Guidelines, Policies, and Procedures for Funerals

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

We are deeply sorry for your loss. Please know that you and your family have our deepest sympathy and the assurance of our prayers. When God calls a loved one home to himself, we are quickly faced with a number of difficult decisions which must be made in a relatively short period of time. The parish family of Saint John Paul the Great wants to be as supportive and helpful as we can be during your time of need. We want to be with you at the death of a loved one in a way that is marked by Christian faith, hope and love. To aid you we have prepared some notes to help you focus on the key decisions which will need to be made.

FUNERAL GUIDELINES

We have tried to make these suggestions as complete and accurate as possible and to be of the greatest assistance to family members in your time of sorrow. This is a brief guide for you to follow and is not meant to be an exhaustive treatment of all the details that you will face.

May God who is gracious and loves mankind give you strength and comfort during these days of loss and sadness and fortify your belief in the resurrection of the dead!

Faithfully yours in the Lord,

Father Emmanuel Ihemedu, Pastor
St. John Paul the Great Parish
