Middle School (Grades 6-8) Program

Our Middle School program is a space where our middle schoolers find answers to their questions about their faith, create solid relationships with other youth in our parish community, and experience Jesus in a profound way.

Teaching Curriculum

VISIONS: Emphasize social justice, moral reasoning, and service for junior high students through current-interest articles, life-dilemma stories, and real Christian life examples. Discussion starters help young teens explore links between today’s issues, the Sunday readings, and their own lives.

VENTURE: Lead 4th-6th-graders in making moral choices and exploring and expanding their faith. Dramatizations, current events, and original stories link the Sunday Gospel to kids’ own lives. Lives of saints (illustrated as comics) and imaginative activities demonstrate applications of the Gospel message.

First Day of Class

Grades K-8th

Classes for the 2023 Faith Formation year will begin in early November for grades K-8th from 8:30-9:45am at St. John Paul the Great Academy (formerly known as St. Peter/St. Francis School), 360 Prospect St. Torrington, CT 06790. We meet weekly, followed by Family Mass at St. Francis Church at 10:00am.

Registration for 2023-2024 is due by Sunday, September 25. Registrations after this date will incur a $15.00 late fee and depend on availability in our classrooms. Our goal is to never leave a child out of the programs; however, due to limited space and teachers, we have limitations with enrollment.

We welcome and are delighted to accept all students; however, no walk-ins will be accepted on the first day of class. Students need to have been pre-registered and assigned to a class list to attend the first day of class—no exceptions to this rule.
