Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus Solidarity Council #55 was formed in 2010 at the request of Father Christopher Tiano, and with the help of Father John Lavorgna, for the purpose of helping and sustaining St. John Paul the Great Parish. 

We are looking for all men in the parish to help us in our task of supporting our pastor and the parish.

Council #55 has been active in numerous parish activities including:

  1. The Knights Annual Pancake Breakfast which has supported St. John Paul the Great Academy and Two Hearts Pregnancy Center
  2. Past major sponsor of the Two Hearts Annual Celebration and Awards Dinner
  3. Sponsored the first annual Men's Parish Picnic
  4. Annual Luminaria Lighting in November to remember deceased loved ones
  5. Helped with breakfast at Advent and Lent parish retreats
  6. Past sponsor of the annual parish Christmas book gift
  7. Sponsor of the annual SJPG Academy Golf Tournament

Additional Knights’ activities have included:

  1. Coverage at First Friday Adoration when it was at Sacred Heart Church
  2. Traffic control assistance for Corpus Christi and Good Friday Processions
  3. Setup for various special events such as anniversary dinners
  4. Managing parking lot traffic during events
  5. Helping with overnight watch for the Youth Cardboard Box City project.

During the pandemic:

  1. We helped organize the outdoor Masses
  2. Delivered bulletins to the homebound
  3. Helped revive the Usher Program

Some specific programs and donations:

  1. $1000 to the Knights Ukrainian Fund
  2. Major part of the Usher membership
  3. Helped cook breakfast with Holy Name at Advent and Lenten Prayer Service
  4. Assisted cleanup of St. Peter Hall basement
  5. Helped with the move out of Sacred Heart Church
  6. Cooked meal for Vacation Bible School
  7. Helped with Holy Name and Protect the Flock at Good Friday and Corpus Christi Processions
