Mental Health Sunday

Dear Parish Family,

As both your pastor and a licensed professional counselor, I know how deeply mental health touches many lives. Mental illness is not a sign of weak faith. It is a human struggle that affects individuals and families across every walk of life. The Church reminds us that those who live with mental health challenges are never alone—they are beloved sons and daughters of God, deserving of compassion, dignity, and hope.

On Sunday, October 12, the Catholic Church in the United States observes Mental Health Sunday. The U.S. bishops also invite us to join in praying the Nationwide Novena for Mental Health (October 10-18). I encourage you to participate—by prayer, by listening with love, and by accompanying those who feel isolated. Together, we can help lift the stigma and share the healing love of Christ.

A Prayer for Mental Health

“Loving God, we entrust to You all who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, or any form of mental illness. Surround them with caring communities, guide them to the help they need, and remind them that nothing can separate them from Your love. Make us instruments of Your peace and compassion. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

In Christ’s Peace,
Father E
